Let’s start with a little known Pearl!
The Cape Fear River in Downtown Wilmington. Try to choose a calm day and go and enjoy the incredible sunsets cruising down the Cape Fear River and get a good look at Downtown Wilmington.
The Clear-Cut choice. The big, beautiful Atlantic Ocean and slip into some waves but be sure not to snake the surfers.
Carolina Beach State Park is a good spot for beginners and offers options to where you would like to explore.
Kure Beach at the southern end of Pleasure Island at a place called The Basin. The water is usually calm and you can check out the living on the waterfront life.
Wrightsville Beach Waterfront, easy access at the boat ramp right after you cross the drawbridge. Make sure you keep an eye on the boats but other than that a fun place to traverse with many different routes to travel. Try “The Loop” a circle around WB inner island right back to where you put to sea and see!
Greenfield Lake, No boats with motors and perfect for beginners and the youngsters. Total chill spot with easy access and parking!
Masonboro Island, a barrier island just south of Wrightsville Beach. Either paddle over from the south end of Wrightsville Beach or launch from the public boat ramp on Trails End Road. Paddle over to the island and then take a walking trek around the island; a SUP Biathlon. When crossing over be sure to keep a lookout for boating “enthusiasts”!
